Chandelier Light Fixture Makeover with MudPaint

Do you have a chandelier light fixture that is outdated?  Have you been looking at purchasing a new light?  Depending on your taste, a new chandelier may cost hundreds of dollars.  Why spend hundreds of dollars when you can repaint yours to custom fit your style?  If you don’t care for the style of your current chandelier, head to a thrift store to see what they have that can be repurposed with a chandelier makeover!

For our chandelier light fixture makeover we found a fun, wrought-iron chandelier that no longer works…but is perfect for an outdoor space. The finished chandelier light fixture will be outside, so we opted for a more rustic vibe.  We chose to use Bluebird and then sanded for a distressed look and highlighted it’s imperfections and ‘charms’.  Painting a chandelier with MudPaint is super easy and inexpensive and gives you the flexibility on the outcome of the finished product.

Depending on the size and style of the chandelier, you will only need a 4 ounce or an 8 ounce container of MudPaint.  You will have paint remaining for another project because MudPaint has exceptional coverage and a little of our paint goes a long way!

With a chandelier light fixture makeover you will completely change the feel of your space. Old chandeliers make a fun decorative addition to outdoor spaces too – on a back patio, hanging from a tree or on a front porch!

Follow these steps to easily transform your chandelier light fixture with MudPaint:

  1. If painting a chandelier light fixture that is already in place and connected to electricity, be sure to turn the electric breaker off before proceeding.
  2. Lay plastic or old sheets down underneath the light fixture to protect the floor.
  3. Clean the chandelier with a damp rag and allow to dry.
  4. Use one of our brushes to apply your favorite color of MudPaint.
  5. Allow to dry thoroughly if applying a second coat.
  6. If desired, distress the chandelier with sandpaper for a weathered look once the piece is completely dried.
  7. Enjoy your newly painted chandelier in it’s current spot – or, in an entirely new space!
