Do you love the look of aged furniture? The weathered, white-washed, salt-watered gray wood that has been around for years? Have you been searching for a piece? Well, why not transform a piece instead of searching and waiting? It’s easy and quick to do and you don’t need to buy a formula to do it. All you need is some MudPaint, a touch of vinegar and steel wool solution, brushes, and a sanding instrument like our Rad Pad. Follow these steps to learn how:
Step 1: Rip up a small piece of steel wool and stick the small pieces in a glass bottle covered with vinegar. Let it sit for 24 hours until the steel wool is entirely dissolved.
Step 2: Prep your surface by wiping it down with a rag. If it has chipping paint, sand with our Rad Pad to smooth the surface.
Step 3: Mix paint with some water to thin it out so that when you paint the wood grain will show through. Paint your piece with a thin layer of paint. Learn how to paint using this flow chart.
Step 4: When the paint has dried which is really quick, lightly sand the piece. Apply the vinegar solution with a brush and let sit for a while. In about an hour, your piece will start looking gray. Allow to dry.
Step 5: Determine if you want to dry brush additional colors on. If so, lightly brush the next layer with MudPaint’s China White. Allow to dry.
