Step 1:  Clean the piece thoroughly to remove and grime and grease.

Step 2:  Allow the piece to dry.

Step 3:  Sand – using our Rad Pad Sander – to remove any old finish and to prepare for the whitewash look.

Step 4:  Wipe with a clean cloth to remove dust.

Step 5:  Mix one part MudPaint China White or Faded Gray and one part water.

Step 6:  Apply mixture with a brush or rag in long strokes following the wood grain.  Work in small sections.

Step 7:  While the whitewash is still damp, use a clean cloth to wipe off the excess.

Step 8:  Allow the whitewash paint to dry.

Step 9:  Repeat steps 6, 7, and 8 until you achieve your desired look.

Step 10:  Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

Step 11:  Sand again if desired.

Step 12:  Wipe with a clean cloth to remove dust.

Step 13:  Finish with a coat or 2 of MudPaint’s Matte Finish Clear Coat. Or, for a bit more sheen use our Clear Finishing Wax and then buff it out! Be sure to clean the wax brush thoroughly so that it can last a long time!
